There
are the popular attractions of the
Loire
Valley
of course – the must sees – as well as those sights, sounds and tastes that
you may not uncover if you are in a large group. We are family run and we live
here so we can take you to local attractions which will not be on the menu for
those on larger coach tours.
We keep the numbers down so that we can give you and your party the level of
service we want to provide and at the same time this enures that we can pay attention
to the details that will make your break one which is enjoyable from start to
finish.
The tours are either
4 or 5 days (3 or 4 nights) and never the same!
Where
We Go:
Depending on what day you arrive, the
weather and the time of year, there is an itinerary that will ensure you make
the most of your time with us.
An example of some of the places we go and what you could expect to visit during
your tour is detailed below.

Visits
around Saumur
Visit the medieval riverside town, the market (Saturday); enjoy some sparkling
wine tasting and see how its production has changed at the attached museum;
visit a troglodyte village and then on to château Brézé – the largest dry
moated château in France with an underground secret.

Visits
around Chinon
In or near the fortified medieval chateau
town, you can visit the market (Thursday); sample local goats cheese at the
producer's; take a trip to the animated wine museum and the river museum;

Visit
our most famous Chateaux
There are plenty to choose from here - Villandry for the magnificent gardens;
Rigny Usse – the inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty story; you could
visit Langeais, a fortified riverside chateau; Azay Le Rideau right on the
river in the heart of one of the prettiest villages in the area.
Instead, we may visit Montsoreau, a self-guided château visit where you
discover how the
Loire
has been used commercially through the ages. Nearby, there are the caves where
many types of mushrooms are produced,the wines of Saumur Champigny and the
production of 'Pommes Tapees'.

Visits
around Bourgueil
Here there is a great market on Tuesday mornings and of course the
vineyards;
from here we may cross the
Loire
and visit a museum where you will learn about the history of rural life in the
area. A short drive will then find us in Fontevraud, where Richard the Lionheart
is buried in a magnificently restored abbey.
