Welcome to Loire Valley Breaks - your holiday your way
So….you want to visit the Loire Valley with even more flexibility than our other breaks? Or perhaps you want to try a mixture of all our holidays? If so, our tailor made breaks may be just right for you.
Perhaps you have special interests - gardens, gastronomy, walking or active adventures.
Are you travelling in a group and would enjoy exclusive use of our accommodation and hospitality?
Or maybe you have just one day to visit the area and would like a wine tasting or sightseeing tour.
If so, our tailor made tours may be just right for you.
All our breaks (except one day tours) include bed and breakfast accommodation in beautifully appointed 18th century properties in and around the market town of Bourgueil. Bedrooms are comfortable and well-appointed with sitting areas and private bathrooms and we can also offer 2 bedroom suites ideal for families.
In short – our tailor made breaks are exactly that – whether for a few days or a full week, they are all planned in detail to fit around you. To get a better idea of what we can put together for you - take a look at the Breaks to Suit You or Group Breaks sections below.
> Breaks to Suit You
We are certain there’s more than enough here for everyone whenever you choose to visit, so just tell us what you like and how many days you want to spend here – the rest is up to us.
To get you started, here are a few examples of breaks we have put together previously:
A family multi-activity holiday including cycling, swimming, a treasure hunt, geo-caching, horse riding, canoeing, a high ropes adventure course and disc golf
A long weekend gastronomy break with wine-tasting, a market visit, a fun cooking class and sampling great fresh produce at unique local restaurants
An escorted tour to see the many and varied troglodyte sites - artists workshops, sparkling wine makers, an underground chateau, troglodyte village, even a restaurant in the caves - to learn more about the fascinating history of cave dwellers in this area
A one day wine tour. Guests travel from Paris (just an hour by fast train) and we collect them in Tours. We visit 4 different wine appellations in the day and still find time for a bite of lunch and some sightseeing en route! We can also collect guests from local accommodation for a one day wine tasting or chateau tour
Walking breaks - we have several round trip routes from our base, plus others which start just a short distance away. Guests either cycle to these start points (up to 8km) or take their own transport further afield. We provide bikes and detailed route maps and notes for each day's walk.
If you are interested in finding out more, please call or e-mail us - our details are on the right. We will work with you to put together a break that's just right for you.
> Group Breaks
A great option if you are a larger party/group and you want to have exclusive use of one of the accommodation properties. The number of people we can accommodate will depend on your party's mix, subject to a minimum of 6 people.
The main advantage is that your group will have complete freedom to use the entire property. So, if you want a late night party, you won’t be disturbing any other guests. And you can let your children play in the garden without having to check that no-one minds them kicking a football about.
If you are here to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, we can arrange any special treats you may want as well as booking local restaurants for you. We can even organise an evening meal in the party room in our wine cave.
If some of your group want to do one thing, whilst others don’t then we can arrange different activities to keep everyone happy. Plenty goes on here all year round – we always have a surprise or two for you. Below are a few examples of group breaks we have hosted before - they are just an idea of what's available - if there's something else you have in mind, just ask us. If it’s possible, we will organise it:
A 3 generation break for cyclists and non-cyclists. The cyclists head out each morning and we transport the non-cyclists to a mid-day rendezvous; usually a town with a chateau, restaurants and other sites for everyone to explore together. Then the cyclists ride home and we transport non-cyclists (and any tired folk) back 'home' in our vehicle
A group of cyclists with a special interest in wine. We tailor make the routes to take in the many appellations locally and arrange tastings at some great wineries. We join guests to host some tastings and include a private visit to a sparkling wine makers and supper in our own wine cave
3 families travelling together for a sporty break - we arrange canoeing, horse- riding, a day at the high ropes adventure park plus cycling, walking and even an afternoon of ice skating
A team-building event for a group of 8 guests. We convert the communal sitting room to a meeting room, provide tea and coffee at breaks, plus lunches and evening meals. We also host a wine tasting session and organise outdoor team-building activities
We can run our Cycling Plus break as an escorted tour. As well as transporting guests and bikes to distant start points and private visits to a sparkling wine makers and troglodyte village, we also ride with guests and provide full van support; to pick up souvenirs (or tired cyclists!) provide refreshments and general en-route assistance
In short, you tell us how many are in your party, how long you want to stay, what you want to do, and we will design the perfect break for you.
If you think this option is just what you are after then send us an e mail or give us a ring using the contact details on the right - we can work with you to plan your itinerary, discuss the domestics and give you an exact price.
