Below is a typical itinerary for our 4 day tour:

Day 1

On arrival we will ensure you are settled into your room as quickly as possible, so we have time to stroll to a local wine grower that afternoon/early evening, before returning to base for your first home cooked, four course evening meal, naturally served with a selection of local wines.

Day 2

After a good breakfast - plenty of choice including fresh croissants and bread - you will set off for your first visit of the day.

We typically travel across the Loire to the medieval town of Chinon , with a first tasting at a local grower en-route.  In Chinon itself you will have time to visit the town, including the animated wine museum and the hilltop chateau, before breaking for a well-earned lunch.

In the afternoon, we head east through the vineyards to one of the nearby villages, for our second vineyard tour and tasting before returning to the market town of Bourgueil.  Here we will walk to a local producer for our final tour and tasting of the day, enabling you to compare the Chinon and Bourgueil appellations.

This evening we will transport you to our local gourmet restaurant, where you can enjoy  a choice of mouthwatering menus, along with excellent attentive hospitality and an extensive local wine list.

Day 3

After another hearty breakfast, we leave for Saumur, stopping on the way to sample the sparkling wines that the town is renowned for.   Our visit includes an informative guided tour of the caves, explaining the differences in the methods of production.

We then move into Saumur itself, where you will have time to explore the town, famous for its château and military riding school, and take lunch.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Saumur Champigny region, which produces high-quality red wines and our winegrower has fascinating troglodyte caves in which you will taste his produce.

For your final evening, we will prepare a second four course dinner for you to enjoy.

Day 4

After a final breakfast, if your travel plans allow, we will make a final visit to a local vineyard before you head off for home.

Five day tour

This tour will include visits to the above wine appellations.  In addition, on your 'extra' day, we will visit either the Montlouis/Vouvray vineyards or the Coteaux du Layon/Anjou area.  We will also transport you to a second local gourmet restaurant for this evening's meal.
